Cooke City- SE face Henderson Mt

Test slope beneath the SE face of henderson mt at about 9500 ft was windloaded, 130 cm deep. Very hard icy crust layer 40 cm from surface looked like it had a storm snow then wind slab above it. We did an isolated column test - since we forgot string- and the 30x30 cm column broke on the crust layer on the 20th hit. Other than that no activity but some rollerballs as things warmed up this afternoon, and lots of wind deposition going on. Hope this is at least a little useful. I’ll take pics next time!

Went up the “Climb Above Dribbles” gully today. In general the gully is in good shape- not too much faceting below the October crust, scoured in some areas, 30cm wind slabs in others that were well bonded. We did observe debris from a size 1.5 windslab that most likely failed during Friday/Saturday wind and snow event. Got a decent look into the terrain above treeline, no avalanche activity observed aside from what looked like a broken cornice. No wet loose activity observed today although the snow surface was wet and air temps felt above 45 F.

Generally stable snowpack observed. Roughly 10" thick hard crust layer was observed on ground, with roughly a foot of fresh now on top of that. No propagation in pits at mid elevations. Strong winds at upper elevations were cross loading/scouring western slopes. Southerly aspects/exposed areas had noticeably less snow.
